Mastering the Treatment of Complex Trauma Training

Dear Colleagues, 

I am pleased to announce that Kathy Martin, LCSW will be providing an in person training January 12-13, 2024 in Bend. I have attended numerous trainings with Kathy over the past 10 years and she is one of the best trainers I have worked with. She has extensive knowledge and training in working with complex trauma, PTSD, dissociation and in training others to work with this population. Training with Kathy has helped me tremendously in my work with patients with complex trauma. I highly encourage you to attend this training, with this internationally known trainer in our own backyard. Description

This 2-day workshop will teach Structural Dissociation Theory and how it integrates into specific strategies and practical skills to safely and effectively treat complex trauma and developmental disorders. Fraser’s Dissociative Table Technique will be taught and demonstrated along with ways to integrate this powerful tool throughout the entire treatment. The art of time orientation will be demonstrated, giving clinicians many valuable tools and skills to eliminate the reliving that causes so much destabilization. Treating dissociative phobias and treating non-personification. Then specifics on how to titrate the reprocessing to keep the client inside the window of tolerance will complete this master class.

 

 

Objectives

1. Explain why all parts of the personality contribute to the dissociation, not just the emotional parts.

2. Define non-personification and give one example

3. State why the Apparently Normal Part of the Personality has this specific name.

4. Describe the 8 steps to Fraser’s Dissociative Table Technique.

5. Construct One Oblique Time Orientation intervention.

6. Explain why ANP compassion for the emotional parts is necessary to treat dissociation.

7. Explain why attention to increasing the tolerance of the positive affect of calm is mandatory in

treating complex trauma.

8. Name the most common mistake that is made in treating complex trauma and one way to avoid

making this mistake.

 

About the Presenter

Kathleen Martin, LCSW, EMDRIA Consultant and Trainer, Fellow in the International Society for the

Study of Trauma and Dissociation and an international trainer on EMDR therapy and complex trauma. In

her private practice in Rochester, New York, USA, she uses EMDR therapy extensively in her specialty of

PTSD, trauma and dissociation. She has published numerous articles and chapters on the treatment of

complex trauma and complex PTSD. She created a strategy called Oblique Time Orientation and has an in-press article on this. She has integrated Structural Dissociation theory into her clinical practice and teaches master classes to help clinicians do the same.

 

Who Should come?

Any mental health clinician who wants to improve their knowledge and skills in working with complex

trauma and dissociation. Participants do not need to be trained in EMDR. This workshop is aimed at all

levels of skills in treating complex trauma and dissociation.

 

Continuing Education Hours

The following Credits will be granted upon full completion of this workshop. No partial credit will be

awarded for partial attendance.

13 EMDRIA continuing education credits will be offered

12 NASW Oregon Chapter continuing education credits will be offered

Cancellation Policy

Cancelling your attendance at this workshop after you have registered and made payment will invoke the

refund policy below.

Refund Policy

Refund requests must be in writing and received at least 4 weeks prior to the start of this workshop. A full refund will be given up to 30 days prior to the start of the workshop. After that no refund will be given unless your spot can be filled by someone on the waiting list. If your spot can be filled, a full refund minus a $100 processing fee will be given.
